King Crab Legs w/ Garlic Butter Sauce

The key to preparing King Crab Legs – so I’ve read – is to keep it simple and keep the meat intact. Since I didn’t want to mess up my King Crab Legs, I stumbled upon Rasa Malaysia’s recipe, who baked them in the oven and doused them in a glorious garlic butter sauce. At first the thought of baking the legs sounded a bit weird to me but then I thought to myself, I need to trust the process (like other things in life eh ;-)). So, I followed the baking process and made my own version on the Garlic Sauce and it was heavennn! Thank you Rasa Malaysia for this wonderful recipe <3

King Crab Legs w/ Garlic Butter Sauce

  • Prep: 10 min (minus defrosting time)
  • Total: 25 min

  • Fish

Ingredients

- 2 King Crab Legs (defrosted)
- 125 gr butter (room temperature)
- 2 big garlic cloves (minced)
- ¼ tsp Pimenton (smoked pepper powder)
- squeeze of lemon juice
- salt & pepper to taste

For garnish:
- parsley
- lemon wedges

NOTE: this recipe is inspired by Rasa Malaysia "Baked King Crab"

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 205 C or 400 F.

  2. Cut the defrosted King Crab into pieces of 10 cm and lengthwise so the crab meat is exposed. This way you can drizzle the butter better later on.

  3. Then arrange the leg pieces on a baking tray and cover it with aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes.

  4. While the King Crab is baking, prepare the garlic butter by softening it with a fork or whisk. Then add the chopped garlic, Pimenton, a squeeze of lemon juice and season with salt & pepper to taste. Set this aside.

  5. When the King Crab is fully baked, drizzle or scoop the butter over the pieces and make sure it goes inside the shell. Finally garnish with parsley, lemon wedges and enjoy!
