French Toast w/ Baguette

It's almost a sin to call this breakfast...
If there’s one way to revive your “pain perdu” (lost/old baguette), then it’s the French way! They are hot, sweet, spiced with cinnamon and browned until crispy! Drizzled with a generous amount of maple syrup and sprinkled with powdered sugar, it’s almost a sin to call this breakfast. Make them soon!

French Toast w/ Baguette

Ingredients
- half of a day old baguette
- 2 eggs
- 100 ml cream
- 100 ml milk (I’ve used soy milk)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla essence / half of a vanilla bean
- pinch of salt
- butter for cooking
For garnish (optional)
- fresh strawberries / blueberries
- powdered sugar
- maple syrup
Instructions
- Cut your baguette in 2 cm pieces.
- In a shallow bowl mix the egg, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla essence and pinch of salt.
- Dip the baguette pieces in the mixture and turn both sides evenly. I let it sit for a bit and then turn them over.
- Then cook de baguette slices in a lightly greased non-stick pan on medium heat. Until the slices are brown on both sides.
- Serve these French Toast Baguettes with maple syrup, powdered sugar and fresh fruit and enjoy!
