Extra cheesy, packed with chives and fresh black pepper, do I need to say more?

These Cheddar Chive Scones, are quick, easy to make and any newbie baker can pull these off. They make a great (after) snack and no special tools are needed. You can knead the dough with your hands and if you don’t own a scone cutter, a drinking glass will do trick just fine. You can serve these scones for breakfast, brunch, soups or even salads. But I like to eat mine with just with a smear of salted butter - So GOOD!

Ingredients

NOTE: This recipes makes 8 scones. Double the quantities for more.

- 300 gr self-raising flour (I used Soubry)
- 150 gr of grated sharp cheddar and 50 gr extra for the topping
- 2 tbsp of chives (fresh is best)
- ½ tsp black pepper (optional)
- 200 ml low-fat yoghurt
- 50 ml milk
- baking sheet
- baking tray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 C or 356 F. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl except for the bit of milk and extra cheddar cheese.

  2. Knead the dough gently and roll it out to 2 cm thick. Use a cutter/drinking glass and cut out round/square shapes until all the dough is finished.

  3. Transfer your scones to a lined baking sheet and brush them with a bit of milk and top them with an extra sprinkle of cheese and chives.

  4. Bake the cheddar scones for 18 minutes in a preheated oven. They should be golden on top and cooked through in the centre. Your scones should be fluffy too. Serve them hot with a smear of butter or eat them cold with a slice of Turkey ham/bacon. Enjoy!

TIP: I like to serve these scones with some butter or Turkey Bacon slices. So tasty! But you can also enjoy them with cheese, a fried egg or even jam.
