Basic Granola w/ Almonds
- Prep: 5 min
- Total: 30 min
Vegetables
Ingredients
4 cups of oatmeal
1 cup of almonds (semi crushed)
¾ cup raisins (optional)
½ cup of melted butter or coconut oil
½ cup of honey
2 tbsp of brown sugar or coconut sugar
1 tbsp of cinnamon
1 tbsp of vanilla essence
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 150 C or 300 F. Add the oatmeal and semi crushed almonds in a glass bowl. Set this aside.
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the honey, brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla essence. Mix well.
- Add the wet mixture to the oatmeal and almonds. Mix well and place it on a parchment lined baking sheet. Toast the granola in the oven for 25 minutes and stir half way through the cooking time.
Note: I like mine a bit more toasted so I kept it a bit longer in the oven. - Remove the granola and stir again before you let it completely cool down. You can add the optional addings. Serve your granola with milk, yoghurt and top it off with fresh fruits.
Tips:
- You can easily veganize this granola recipe by using coconut oil and vegan chocolate.
- Looking for a refined sugar-free option? Use coconut sugar instead of regular brown sugar.
- Store your granola in an airtight container or mason jar. This keeps well for more than a week. If it lasts that long in your house.
