Asian Style Lamb Chops

Get a good quality chop!

Making the garlic oil + chips is imperative for the sauce and flavours, Don't skip this!

Hot chops and lush sauce is my kinda heaven!
These restaurant-quality chops take a bit of preparation, but if well prepped they become very succulent, tender and packed with flavor. I bought my chops at the butcher (Keurslager) and they’re a bit pricy, but the meat was so flavorful! Also, my butcher cut them into perfect chops for me.

These chops are also perfect for a date night or as a family meal!
I had these Asian Style Lamb Chops for dinner and paired it with my Steamed Pak Choi and a glass of vino – heaven! The chops are marinated first, then quickly cooked and finally drizzled with a lush sauce. I absolutely loved the flavors and if you want to impress someone special, I guess this makes a perfect meal for a date night! Head over to the recipe and spoil your special one or family ;-)
Asian Style Lamb Chops
- Prep: 30 min (marinating time)
- Total: 45-60 min
Meat
Ingredients
NOTE: this recipe serves two persons.
- 6 lamb chops (make sure it’s a good chop)
- seasoned with ¼ tsp each: garlic, onion and pepper powder
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil (for the marinade)
- 2 tbsp garlic oil for cooking (see below)
- non-stick / cast iron pan
For the crispy garlic chips & oil:
- about 12 garlic cloves (finely sliced)
- ½ cup sunflower oil
NOTE: you’ll use the garlic chips + oil for the sauce and garnish!
For the sauce:
- ½ cup chicken stock mixed with 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp crispy garlic chips
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tbsp Hoisin sauce
For garnish:
- crispy garlic chips
- spring onions (finely sliced)
For serving:
- white rice
- steamed pak choi
Instructions
- Marinate your lamb chops and set these aside.
NOTE: always allow your meat to come at room temperature (about 30 minutes) if it comes out of the fridge. - Prepare your garlic oil & chips by frying them on medium heat until they are golden brown (about 15 minutes). Keep stirring. Remove once brown and place the chips on some kitchen towel paper to remove excess oil and to keep them crispy. You’ll need this garlic oil & chips for cooking the chops and making your sauce.
- Then place 2 tbsp of garlic oil in a pan and cook the chops on medium heat (about 5 minutes each side or to your preference). Remove from pan, cover with cling film and let them rest.
- In the meantime prepare your sauce by adding the ingredients to a bowl and mixing it well. Then add the mixture to a pan (same pan where you cooked your chops in) and let it thicken on medium heat.
- When the sauce is ready drizzle it over the chops. Serve with rice (fried, steamed, sticky) and some Steamed Pak Choi w/ Asian Spices.
TIP:
- You can cook any other (vegan) meat and serve it with the sauce. It goes well with red meat, but also chicken!
